In this first article about fixing your slow computer, I will discuss the basics that will increase the speed of your computer.

Steps to a faster computer:

1. Spyware Removal: It is very important to remove the spyware that your computer is infected with. There are numerous spyware removal programs that can be used, some free and some not. The best free spyware removal programs that I have experience with are:

- Ad-Aware Free
- Spybot Search & Destroy

Use the following tools from EasyCleaner to help speed up your computer:
- Registry Cleaner: Find and delete all registry errors.
- Unnecessary Cleaning: Find all types of files that are unnecessary to be on your computer and use the "delete all" button to get rid of those files.
- Startup Manager: Manage what programs start up when your computer boots! Get rid of those unnecessary programs that you never use and slow down your computer. Make sure you know what the program is before disabling it!

3. Update your Windows: Keeping your computer up-to-date is important. Use Windows Update to ensure that you have the latest updates for Windows.

4. Disk Clean-up: It is always smart to do a disk clean-up about once every couple of days. To run a disk clean-up, do the following:

1. Click on "My Computer"
2. Right Click on Local Disk(that you want to clean) and click on properties.
3. In the "General" tab, there will be a button "Disk Clean-up". Click this.
4. It will gather information regarding how much space will be freed up. When a screen pops up, ensure that all check boxes are checked. Click OK.

This is something that should be done every couple of days. It takes a minute or two, depending on how much cleaning is necessary.
