What is an RSS Feed? A RSS Feed is a abbreviation for "Really Simple Syndication" and is used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video. Today, it is common for blogs, news sites, and businesses use RSS Feeds to keep their users up-to-date.

What does a RSS Feed do?
A RSS feed, to put simply, is used to inform those who are interested that something new happened. For Example, if you are a subscriber to a RSS Feed from CNN, you will receive up-to-date news when it is posted. No more having to go to the CNN Site to read the news! These updates can be read in many different ways, allowing the reader to choose what best fits them.

Subscribe to a RSS Feed: Now that you know what a RSS Feed is and how handy they can be, subscribe to your favorite web site's RSS Feed! You can choose where you want to have the information "sent" and view all of the sites that you would have to go to individually all at one time; saving a lot of time!

Where can I read a RSS Feed?
It is important to set up the RSS Feed correctly, ensuring that the content reaches your destination. There are a lot of options to where you can read the feed. The most popular places include: Windows Outlook, Google Home Page, Yahoo Home Page, your desktop, or any site that has an RSS Feed Reader. The possibilities are unlimited!

April Fools? Tricks not so funny

When we think of April Fools, we think of funny pranks and jokes played on our friends. This April Fool's day is another story. "Conficker C", a nasty computer worm, is said to have infected between 5 million and 10 million computers as of today! To put it simple, this is not your ordinary computer worm. As a result, we have seen many worried, microsoft offer a $250,00 reward to find the author, and top security software firms trying to prevent the worm from spreading.

"Conficker C" is a different type of worm because it has been proven by the authors of the worm that they are in complete control of it still, even when it is on other computers. This is scary because they are able to code the worm to do whatever they feel like, which they have said will be done April 1st, 2009. Whether it is just a prank, steals personal information, slows our computers, or erases hard-drives, we will have to wait and find out.

What you can do to surf safe:

Because Microsoft realizes the potential damage this worm could do, they have done what they can to help protect their users. Head over to and run a system scan. Also, ensure that you have all of the windows updates by going to

Also, you will want to make sure that your anti-virus is up and running and has the up-to-date virus definitions. It is a smart idea to run a complete system virus scan at least once a week.

Lastly, you should always avoid websites that you are not familiar with and that could be home to viruses, worms, and malware.

I will be posting an article tomorrow about how to effectively clean your computer of malware and others tips on how to get more speed out of your computer.

Why You Should Use Google

Why should you use Google?

Well Google provides the internet users with very accurate results when you search for nearly anything on the internet. Of course there are other search engines that do this though, so what separates Google from the rest?

Google's main goal is provide their users with accurate results, but within less than half a second. Half a second! The main idea of efficient use of the web is to save time. What better way to save time than to find results for what you are looking for in less than half a second?

Add the google search toolbar to your web browser and have the ability to search google at any time while your browser is open.

Why you should trust google to meet your expectations and provide accurate results? Well simply put, Google had over 30 Billion searches last month. If that isn't enough proof to be legit, I don't know what is!

Is It Worth Turning Your Computer Off Every Night?

Millions of people in the United States don't turn their computers off at night. Are you one of them? Well, what is the reason you don't turn it off every night? I'll admit it, I'm one of those people. After reading an article over on Yahoo (, I will be turning my computers off each night.

How much money do you think is wasted yearly in the US by computers running overnight?
$10 million?
$100 million?
$1 Billion?

Well guess again! $2.8 billion dollars. The US alone wastes $2.8 billion a year, which many consider nothing in today's world.

This article also made another interesting point. This amount of wasted energy each year is the cause of 20 million tons of CO2! It says that is the amount produced by 4 million cars on the roads!

To the Reader: Turn your computers off at night! Save money! Stop adding to the pollution problems in the states!

Heck, if you don't care about that stuff, turn your computers off at night because it will make them run smoother and more efficiently for a longer period of time!
